Cinderella Foot Surgery
The Cinderella Foot Surgery procedure offered at the London Foot & Ankle Surgery:
- Kaser Nazir, Consultant Podiatric Surgeon, is now offering the famous Cinderella procedure at the Cadogan Clinic and harley street in London.
The Cinderella procedure was popularised in the USA and essentially treats people with a splay or spread foot. The conditions that usually cause this problem include a significant bunion deformity on the inside of your big toe as well as a Tailor’s bunionette that affects the little toe. The feet gradually spread and cause significant footwear difficulty and pain when wearing closed shoes.
- Many women suffer from this problem, which is associated with gradually worsening foot deformities affecting the forefoot, with associated pain when in footwear or heels. There is a strong genetic link and hypermobility of the ligaments associated with the development of this foot problem. It appears to start early in your teens and most women in their thirties would suffer from significant difficulties.
The procedure involves narrowing of the foot by realigning the big toe and the fifth metatarsal joints. The bones are cut using specially designed instruments and repositioned to the correct alignment. This is followed by use of specially adapted screws that allow the bones to be held in the new position for permanent resolve of the deformity.
- The procedure can be performed under local or general anesthesia at the Cadogan clinic. Most of our patients complain of discomfort for three days and are walking in a specially adapted shoe for the first three to four weeks. High heels can be worn two to three months following operation and you can return to sports at that time.
